my services are focused on the creation and crafting of limited editions and one-offs.I tread the gray zone between design, crafts, drawing, photography, sculpture, functional art, installation, and many other arts, but always applied to or at least suggesting objects of use.
When looking at the overview of previous works and talking about former or ongoing projects and thoughts concerning them, we have to maintain that “objects or subjects” that originate in the creation out of my hands, sometimes look like and somehow are like organisms in various ways.
New objects come to life as intricate, modular designs grow into and out of each other, becoming an evolving, epiphanous tree of designs and ideas that can be traced to a common ancestor.
An adequate depiction of the diversity of the collection does not only constitute this two- dimensional manifest. It is a genealogical tree and will become so in the process of its evolution as well. Where the diversity of “Living art pieces” is ordered along a line of descent that can be tracked down to a simple basic primordial form.
In drawing up my genealogy I want to be very extensive while I'll have to continually work with a rather minute and comparatively narrow methodology when it comes to individual studies and works but coming from a point of view where a true designer artist should never specialize too much in merely one subject, I pursue to become multilingual in every sense of the word.
If we leaf through the volume of sketches and items in my sketchbooks with this in mind the multifarious often playfully structured forms no longer resemble only a collection of exotica or weird ideas as some people might call it.
I like to see in my creations how stereometry with respect to a wide variety of forms repetitively occurs. They all seem to be subject to the simple principles of symmetry and are consequently not to be regarded solely as the result of a “ game” but simply natural. Like almost everything in nature possesses some kind of symmetry or withholds simple very rudimental rules. When understood properly these rules can lead us to the answers we might be looking for in the salvation of many real acute problems we are facing every day. A returning subject in my mind and something I want to point at with one or more of the underlying levels of my works.
My work has to stand for itself and therefore must simply illustrate the text it withholds from our perceived realities. Works and illustrations that are available are not a depiction of existing knowledge nor what you have read before but are in self the acquisition of knowledge of nature or the natural organic way of everything touchable. It is merely a distilled-down set of examples which with each detail reveals part of the whole. This is where knowledge of nature is ascertained!
Paul Heijnen Studio invites you to become part of the described visual of the complexity and simplicity of any form of art to help execute possible visualizations of ideas. The real goal is to invert any pre-confected or conceived notion that concerns materiality and its seen-before approaches on this matter.
